What I Wore: A Black Denim-Style Jacket

Welcome to another weekly fashion post, where I share real fashion for real women. Each week, I highlight at least one outfit that I'm wearing right now, as well as provide ideas and inspiration to help you get dressed in the mornings. Life is hard, getting dressed shouldn't be. This week we're going to look at a simple black jacket, that's perfect for spring weather.

Years ago, I had my "colors" done, and much to my chagrin, I learned I was a "summer." I didn't much care for the predominately pastel pallet of the summer colors, I liked the vibrant winter and fall pallets much better. The kind lady took pity on my lack of knowledge, and held up an orange scarf to my face, and then compared that to a pale aqua one. My complexion and hair looks so much better when she held up the aqua scarf, it was like magic. But I never really did learn to love "summer" colors.

That's why you will rarely see me in light pastels, and many of my spring fashion posts are filled with jewel-toned colors and neutrals like black, white and grey. Like this great LBJ (Little Black Jacket) from my spring Aventua Clothing Ambassador haul. Last year, you may recall, I picked out a white one. It's such a perfect casual  layering piece - not too heavy, not too light and very versatile - that you're definitely going to want more than one.

It's very spring-like here in PA right now, which means it's rainy and still pretty chilly in the mornings. It warms up briefly in the afternoons if the sun comes out. All of these factors make March and early April dressing very challenging. (I've already lamented about shoes). So layers are key. I added a scarf to my outfit and picked up my current favorite bag, a bright pink Kate Spade, and I hit the Third Grade Spring Concert and some errand running.

Casual, comfortable and stylish is definitely a win, no matter what season it is and you can't go wring with a great spring jacket.
