What to Wear When Jeans Won't Do

Welcome back to another weekly fashion post, where I share real fashion for real women. Each week, I highlight at least one outfit that I'm wearing right now, as well as provide ideas and inspiration to help you get dressed in the mornings. Life is hard, getting dressed shouldn't be.

What happens when you have an event to go to and jeans just won't do? It seems strange how ingrained jeans and denim have become in our society. They can go just about anywhere, if properly accessorized, but sometimes, jeans just seem too casual a choice or I'm just tired of wearing them. Last week, I had a Blogger event to go to, and I felt like jeans were just too casual. But it was very cold and snowy, and I didn't want to get too dressed up.

Skirt - Aventura | Top - Aventura | Boots - Bandolino | Earrings Stella and Dot

My khaki skirt from Aventura was the perfect choice. I'm looking forward to continuing my Ambassador relationship with them in 2016. The skirt part made it a little dressier, while the cut and fabric kept it casual and comfortable. Tights and boots were a must as it was freezing and I was taking the train into Philadelphia.

Another great option for a casual look that isn't jeans are pants. I'm going to admit that I'm not a fan of pants, unless I can wear them with heels, flip flops or sandals. But if you pick a bright color or a neutral and pair with booties and a great top, you'll be set. Sweater Dresses with boots can also be a dressed-up casual look. Jeans are so easy, they have become the American uniform. But sometimes, a girl just needs a break from her favorite pair.

What do you wear when you're not in the mood for your jeans?

  1. I have a pair of black trouser-style pants that make me feel fantastic, so if I'm going to an event and don't want to wear a dress (like because it's COLD out), I'll wear those with heels. Makes me happy. And ps--I love that top. I wore mine yesterday :)
