snowpocalypse 2010. . .

. . .so early in the week, the weather forecasters starting predicting a large storm moving towards the Delaware Valley. . .by mid-week they were cautiously tossing the word "blizzard" around. . .by Friday, it was flat-out Accu-Panic mode. . .

having lived in this area my ENTIRE life - I knew the smart thing to do was check the pantry, the fridge, and the liquor cabinet. . .after making a list, I set off for my store run right after the kids left for school.

i got to Trader Joe's by 9 am. . .there were not many customers yet, and their shelves were well-stocked with necessities and goodies alike.  I strolled up and down the aisles, gathering some needs (milk, orange juice, ground beef) and many goodies (whoopie pies, pigs in a blanket, 5-layer dip) - the Superbowl is Sunday afterall.

It was an uneventful afternoon, anticipating the snowpocalypse yet to come - it had started falling in DC by 2pm - but no flakes here yet.  I picked the kids up at school and backed the car into the driveway, where I am anticipating it will sit unmoved for 2 days. . .

by 7 pm last night, there was a dusting on the ground. . .before I went to bed, there were a couple inches, and it was falling lightly and quietly.

this morning - as promised - snowpocalypse. . .it's 9 am and we have a solid 16" inches on the ground - the wind is blowing and heavy snow is falling. . .

but since the pantry and liquor cabinet are stocked - we are settling in, staying in our pajamas and enjoying the opportunity to just chill out. . .

catch you soon -

  2. We are unusually kidless for the weekend, so a pre-snopalooza party was in order. We stopped at the store on the way home and now are preparing to face the day of shoveling with some mimosas!

  3. Can't believe how deep it is! My kids were loving it but didn't last long. Our local Giant was NUTS last night.
