16 Movies You Loved as a Kid That Are Entirely Inappropriate For Your Own Kids

Bloggers weigh in on Movies they loved as kids but might not let their own kids see!

What was your favorite movie as a kid? I remember my dad taking my cousin and me to see Grease in the theater . . .I was 10 years old. I didn't know what a hickie from Knickie was at the time, nor did I realize Rizzo had a bun in the oven, but I adored all that singing and dancing and I wanted to BE Sandy.

Would I let my own kids see that movie at 10 years old? Probably not. We recently watched Back to the Future . . .my kids counted 22 swear words, and it got a little uncomfortable when Biff was "having his way" with Lea Thompson. Granted, I was 17 when that movie came out, but it is rated PG (not PG-13).

I asked around the blogisphere and here are 16 movies we loved as kids but probably wouldn't show our OWN kids:

The Goonies - Lindsay from See Mom Click
Dirty Dancing - Miranda from Lemons and Laughs and Melissa from All Things Chic
Grease - Jenn from Jersey Family Fun and Christina from It's a Keeper
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead - Christina from Mom's Messy Miracles
Meatballs - Cindy from Whatever Works
The Ladybugs - Rachel from Can't Google Everything
MASH (TV series but we'll keep it) - Jessica from EastSleepBe
Troop Beverly Hills - Beth from Life in the Batcave
Adventures in Babysitting - Natalie from A Turtle's Life for Me
16 Candles - Debbie from Mamanista
Ghostbusters - Kristin from Keep Swimmin
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Jessica from Mommy University
Weird Science -  Jeanine from Mommy Entourage
Trading Spaces - Rachee from Say it Rashay
Spaceballs - Dresden from Creating Motherhood
Risky Business - Candice from Fashionably Organized

Here's the thing, many of us agree that the things that make us squirm about these movies, most likely would go over our kids' heads, just like they went over our heads . . .but when I was a kid - I couldn't look it up on Google.

What movies did you love as a kid but wouldn't show your own kids?

catch you soon -

  4. I loved Grease as a kid. And honestly, I didn't get all the innuendos. I have let my girls watch it, though, and just as I thought, they didn't get them either!
