Sometimes, I see a great outfit on Pinterest and it grabs me. Typically I already own at least one piece from the pictured outfit, in this case it was the ivory vest.
If I wanted to make this outfit my own, I need to find a navy blue long-sleeve t-shirt. Not really an easy feat, but I did find one at Ann Taylor to do the trick. I also chose to skip the gold jewelry and leopard belt. I'm more of a silver jewelry fan and I don't wear a lot of belts these days. But I think I captured the feel of the original outfit.

I love navy blue, but don't buy a lot of it, because I find it difficult to incorporate with shoes and other pieces. I guess you can't really go wrong with brown or a neutral shade. But for some reason, I get nervous about having things to "go with" navy. This would look cute with a pair of tall tan boots or also a pair of grey suede booties.
Outfit inspiration can come from anywhere: a store display, your best girlfriend, the stylish woman in the airports, or even Pinterest. The key is making a look you see your own.

ReplyDeleteThanks Sheryl - the vest is great because it has a knit back and sides - so it really smooths over your clothes.
