bloggy summer camp. . .family

Day 28 – What size family do you come from, what size family do you want, and why?

i come from a family of 4:

during my childhood, my family consisted of 2 dogs, several cats, a few parakeets, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, a rabbit, and the occasional turtle my dad would find at work and bring home for a day before letting it go.

we have a large extended family though - my grandparents on my Mother's side had 12 brothers and sisters between them.  one of my fondest childhood memories is Christmas Eve at my great-grandmom's house with all the cousins and aunts and uncles - it was complete chaos and a dream come true for the kids.

truth be told - i alwasy wanted a big family. . .if money were no object, i like to think we would have had a larger family.  as it is - i'd say it's just perfect.  we are very lucky, and i try to count my blessings everyday.

  1. Your boys are super cute! I'm sure they're little heart breakers.

  2. That's a lot of furry family members! We only had a few cats and several dogs over time. Right now we only have 1 cat though I'm saving up for a Lassiter Newf. I love big dogs!

  3. I completely understand about the Christmases with all the cousins and aunts and uncles. Like you, I came from a family of 4 but my maternal grandparents each had 8 siblings. We had holidays like that, too. My cousin Marlene is the one I'm closest to from those days (you may see us reminiscing on Facebook occasionally) and we love talking about those times. Great memories!
