holiday adventures. . .

. . .so, i realize that the holidays are quickly approaching - in fact, Hanukkah is already here. . .but instead of making my Christmas cards, or finishing my shopping, or wrapping gifts. . .or even finishing decking the halls. . .john and i took the kids downtown.

ryan had a friend over today, and we bundled the three boys up and hopped the train to center city.  owen was overjoyed at the opportunity to ride the R7.  the older boys were excited to see the holiday show at the comcast center - if you haven't seen it and you are in the philly area - GO. . .it's free and there's an excellent food court in the building as well.  in fact today, they were selling gingerbread houses that you could build and decorate and take home.

after we saw the show, the boys wanted to go outside and see the tallest building in the philadelphia skyline. . .while we were out there, the horses and carriages called.  the boys really wanted to go - so we indulged.  john and i realized we hadn't been on a carriage ride since the weekend we got engaged in NYC.  it was a chilly day, but the sun was shining and we had a great time taking in the sights around rittenhouse square.

we ate lunch in the aforementioned food court, and each of the boys got a cupcake from Termini Brothers. . .the cupcakes were almost the same size as the boys' heads.  john and i brought home some cannolli. . .

we had a bit of a wait in the train station to go home, but we were entertained by a lovely older gentleman playing a flute. . .he had a great variety of holiday songs, and after i had owen place a $1 in his flute case, he played a bunch of preschooler songs too.

so we rode the R7 home again - everyone tired but happy.

and that list of things to be done, still stands - but there is always tomorrow.

catch you soon -
