How-To: Make a Handprint and Picture Altered Tray for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to make a personal and heartfelt one-of-a-kind gift. This altered tray, featuring your kids' hand prints and pictures, fits the bill perfectly.

tray with pictures and handprints

What You Need:
  • An Unfinished Wooden Tray
  • Paint
  • Pattern Paper
  • Modge Podge
  • Ribbons
What To Do:

You can paint your tray if you'd like (chalkboard paint may be fun), I chose not to. I laid out my pattern of paper, pictures and a quote first (I printed this from my computer at home). . .then did the hand prints with the kids. I just used regular acrylic craft paint.

After the hand prints dried, I layered on a thin coat of Modge Podge and laid out my papers and my quote.  One more thin coat of Modge Podge and I placed my pictures. I covered the top with a final thin coat of Mod Podge to protect it.

For fun, I tied some coordinating ribbons to the handles.

And that's it - a quick and easy keepsake for a grandmother, godmother, aunt or anyone.

catch you soon -
