. . .so, it's 4:30 am here. . .i'm awake
i woke up unable to stop scratching - although there is no rash, no nothing to be scratching. . .thought it was cruel to do that to john (lie there and scratch incessently), while he tried to sleep.
we had our first taste of the "real world" yesterday - according to school and news reports, a boy brought a gun to the district high school, showed it to another boy, and then left the school grounds with it. in response, the district locked down it's 4 schools (including the elementary school where ryan goes to kindergarten). the police got the boy and the gun without incident and life returned to normal.
ryan seems to have no idea what happened, although he got concerned by the official looking note sent home - that perhaps he did something wrong. i assured him he was not the one who did something wrong, and his principal just wanted to let all the parents know what happened.
another little sliver of security gone. . .i don't know how parents that live in drug and violence infested neighborhoods do it. does it just become a way of life?
i'm off to look up itching on babycenter.com. . .have a peaceful friday.
catch you soon -
